Modern embroidery device well equipped with several components and will provide you how many stitches are required for a particular design within a second. By this process, you can easily find out total embroidery thread requirement for an individual design. By using formula, we may know how many cones of thread are required to accomplish an individual styles embroidery task in bulk production. Counting process of embroidery thread mainly depends on some factors like stitch type, number of colors, number of stitches contain in design, thread type, meter per cons etc. A fruitful embroidery thread counting formula has given below for your reference.

Embroidery Thread consumption calculation system in garment industry:

Suppose,

Number of Garments Quantity is – 4,500 pieces

If stitch quantity in the following embroidery design is- 3890 (stitch)
Type of stitch – Satin
Length of thread in the cones – 3,500 meters
embroidery artworkStitch length in the embroidery design – 6 mm or 7 mm (It depends on stitch type and quality, but usually it will be 6mm or 7mm for better looking. So, we can use anyone without any hesitation, for satin type stitch we will use 7 mm & 6 mm for tatami).
Now we can easily compute how many cones of thread are required to complete 4,500 pieces of garments with the following embroidery design.
Formula:

=Number of Garments quantity X Number of stitch X 7mm /1000 stitches /meter per cone= 4,500 X 3,890 X 7/1,000/3,500

= 1, 75, 05,000 X 7/1,000/3,500 (here 1, 75, 05,000 is the total stitch quantity and 7mm is for 1000 stitches)
= 12, 25, 35,000/1,000/3,500 (here 12, 25, 35,000 is the total length of stitches, unit of it is millimeter and then dividing by 1,000 for making it meter, because 1000 mm = 1 meter)

= 122535/3,500
= 35.01 cones
(Considering reject or loss quantity, please booked 2% more embroidery thread to keep safe in production as the stitching process of embroidery is totally operated by machine.)
So, we will procure 36 cones of thread to complete 4,500 pieces of garments.
Guess, now everything is clear to all. If anybody does not understand any point of the formula, please post a comment, and I will try to reply to meet your queries.
